Danish renewable energy developer Eurowind Energy has announced plans to develop a large-scale solar park in Visina, Dâmbovița County. With an installed capacity of 220 MW, this will be the company’s largest project in Romania and one of the biggest solar ventures in the country. The investment is estimated at nearly 175 million euros.
The solar park will cover around 354 hectares and include more than 400,000 photovoltaic panels. Once operational, it is expected to generate approximately 400 GWh of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power about 150,000 households.
This project marks Eurowind Energy’s fifth solar initiative in Romania, following developments in Halchiu, Măgurele, Pufești, and Teiuș. By the end of 2025, the company plans to have 124 MW of operational capacity in Romania, alongside a development pipeline totaling 7.5 GW. This pipeline includes various renewable technologies such as solar, wind, hybrid systems, and battery storage.
Established in 2006 and operating in Romania since 2011, Eurowind Energy manages a diverse international portfolio spanning wind, solar, hydrogen, biogas, power-to-heat, and storage solutions.
