During the week of June 9, solar photovoltaic energy production increased across most major European markets compared to the previous week. Germany saw the largest growth with a 41% rise, followed by France with a 38% increase. Italy’s production grew by 6.1%, while Spain experienced a modest 1.2% increase. Portugal, however, recorded its second consecutive week of decline in solar PV production, dropping by 8.7%.
That week, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany all set new records for solar photovoltaic energy generation. On June 11, France and Italy achieved their highest ever solar PV output for the month of June, producing 134 GWh and 152 GWh respectively, surpassing the previous week’s values. Spain reached its second highest daily production ever on June 12, generating 215 GWh. Germany broke its all-time record on June 13 with 445 GWh of solar PV energy produced.
Looking ahead to the second week of June, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts solar PV generation will continue to rise in Germany and Spain but decline in Italy. Wind energy production in Spain increased by 12% for the second consecutive week. Meanwhile, France, Germany, and Portugal reversed their previous upward trends and experienced decreases in wind generation of 48%, 11%, and 18%, respectively. Italy saw its wind production drop by 29% for the third week in a row.
For the week of June 16, AleaSoft forecasts a general decline in wind energy generation across all the analyzed European markets, AleaSoft reports.
