Serbia should sign a long-term gas supply contract with Russia, according to Srbijagas Director Dušan Bajatović. The General Manager of Srbijagas stated that Serbia will negotiate a long-term agreement with Russia for the procurement of gas.

“We will get a long-term contract. There is still a question of price. It will not be for less than 3 years, and it cannot be for more than 10 years, if we agree on financial terms,” Bajatović said during his guest appearance on TV Happy. He pointed out that without Russian gas, there is no viable “gas equation” for Serbia.

The General Manager reminded viewers that Europe plans to completely discontinue Russian gas by 2027. Currently, Serbia has only signed an annex to its existing gas arrangement with Russia, which is in force from June 1 to September 30. The annex provides 6.1 million cubic meters of gas per day at a price of 290 Euros, and Bajatović announced that the price for the industry would be cheaper. The conditions were extended under the same terms, and the price was determined according to the oil formula.

As Insider reports, Bajatović previously stated in May that a deal to purchase 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year — up from 2 billion — had already been largely agreed upon with the Russians. He told RTS at the time that the details were still under discussion and that he believed the next contract would be signed for 10 years.
