In 2024, Retele Electrice Romania, part of the PPC group, invested 240 million euros to modernize and strengthen its electricity distribution network, with 190 million euros from its own funds. The projects focused on the Muntenia Sud, Banat, and Dobrogea regions and included constructing new power stations, upgrading existing ones, and extending transmission lines. Key achievements include the installation of 260,000 smart meters, bringing the total to 1.7 million, the highest in Romania.

The company also made substantial investments in Bucharest, Ilfov, Giurgiu, Constanta, Timis, Arad, Caras-Severin, and Hunedoara counties, upgrading medium and low-voltage networks and improving infrastructure. Notable projects include the modernization of Filaret and Obor power stations and upgrades to several high and low-voltage networks across various regions.

Looking ahead, Retele Electrice Romania plans to invest 280 million euros in 2025 to further develop a digitalized electricity distribution network. New projects will be financed by the Operational Program for Large Infrastructure and the Modernization Fund, with completion set between 2026 and 2029.
