In the first week of February, electricity demand increased across most major European electricity markets compared to the previous week. The French market saw the biggest rise, with demand up by 6.5%, while Spain experienced the smallest increase, just 0.5%. Other markets, including Italy, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, saw increases ranging from 1.5% in Italy and the UK to 3.9% in Germany. However, Portugal was an exception, with demand declining for the second consecutive week, falling by 0.7%.
Throughout the week, average temperatures were colder than the previous week across all markets. The temperature drop ranged from 0.8°C in the UK to 3.0°C in Germany.
Looking ahead to the second week of February, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts an increase in electricity demand in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, and Belgium. Meanwhile, demand is expected to decrease in France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, AleaSoft reports.
