After 12 years, ENERCON’s sales team has successfully secured its first major order in Romania, marking a significant milestone for the company in the country’s wind energy sector. The order includes the supply of 7 E-160 EP5 wind turbines, with a total capacity of over 38 MW. This deal, which has been in the works since 2023, was finalized with Smart Power Generation Alfa S.R.L., and the project will be part of Romania’s EU PNRR funding program.
The 7 turbines will be installed on 120-meter-high modular steel towers (MST) in Cudalbi Galați, located in eastern Romania. Once completed, the wind farm will have a total capacity of 38 MW, contributing significantly to the country’s sustainable energy supply. As onshore wind energy in Romania gains momentum, ENERCON is well-positioned to support the market with its reliable, state-of-the-art wind turbine technology, as well as a broad range of financing and technical solutions that help customers and developers optimize their business models and advance the energy transition.
ENERCON is prepared to cater to both established players in the renewable energy sector and new, local companies, offering tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of Romanian customers. Benjamin Seifert, ENERCON’s Regional Director for Central and Northern Europe, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainably supporting Romania’s energy transition. “With our turbine portfolio, strong EPC sector references, and excellent service, we provide the right solutions for both established companies and local developers. Our local team is already engaged in other projects, and we look forward to further developments in Romania,” Seifert stated.
This project marks the beginning of ENERCON’s ongoing involvement in Romania, with more projects planned for the future.
