Ingka Investments, the investment arm of IKEA, has secured final approval from Romania’s energy market regulator, ANRE, for a 300 MW solar power plant in Dambovita County. The project, set to be developed in two phases near Butimanu, will be executed by Butimanu Energy, a subsidiary fully owned by Ingka Investments Romania.
Having acquired the project, which is already at the construction-ready stage, at the end of last year, Ingka Investments aims to have the power plant operational by the end of 2025. Once completed, it will generate enough electricity to supply approximately 170,000 households in Romania.
IKEA has established itself as a pioneer in renewable energy investments in Romania, currently operating wind farms with a combined capacity of 171 MW.
