Hungary: Natural gas consumption drops 5.2% amid rising electricity use

The Hungarian Ministry of Energy reported that natural gas consumption in Hungary totaled approximately 5.5 billion cubic meters during the first nine months of 2024, representing a decrease of around 5.2% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Household gas consumption saw a significant decline of 10%, while gas use in public institutions fell by 2.8%. In contrast, electricity consumption in Hungary increased by 1.7%, reaching 30.5 TWh. Notably, home solar panels contributed about 7.3% of the total electricity consumed.
