EFT has announced the successful test filling of the reservoir for the Ulog hydropower plant, despite significant rainfall impacting the Neretva river basin.
In anticipation of the weather conditions and inflow projections, the management of HPP Ulog implemented operational measures to manage the peak of the flood wave. While these measures did not completely eliminate the devastating effects of the floods in the downstream areas, they did help to mitigate the impact.
This operation has demonstrated that HPP Ulog will not only generate electricity but also serve as an active protector for downstream structures by reducing the harmful effects of high waters.
EFT Group was awarded a 30-year concession for this project, and preparatory work for the 35 MW hydropower plant, which is expected to generate approximately 85,000 MWh of electricity annually, began in August 2010.
