China’s leading insurance corporation, Sinosure, has granted financial support for six renewable energy projects in the Republic of Srpska (RS), totaling 300 million euros. Luka Petrovic, General Director of the state-owned power utility ERS, announced that this backing was secured during a recent official visit by an ERS delegation to China. He highlighted that Chinese companies view ERS as a serious partner, reflected in the company receiving the highest corporate ranking globally.

The cooperation between ERS and its Chinese partners has been fruitful, particularly regarding the construction of the Dabar hydropower plant, considered the most significant energy project in the Balkans. During a meeting with the Chinese Gezhouba Group, responsible for the plant’s construction, assurances were made that the project would meet its deadlines.

Petrovic emphasized the importance of renewable energy for the future, noting that RS is well-suited for green energy production, evidenced by the rising number of solar power plants in recent years. He concluded that green energy not only supports environmental goals but will also contribute to more stable electricity prices, making China’s cooperation vital for the RS economy.
