Cero Generation, an independent portfolio company of Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, has successfully commissioned the 100 MW Delfini solar power plant in the municipality of Drama, Eastern Macedonia, Greece. This new facility is expected to produce 157 GWh of clean electricity each year, which will be sufficient to meet the energy needs of approximately 58,000 homes.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the project were carried out by a joint venture between the US-based company Ameresco and Greece’s Sunel Group. Notably, the Delfini solar power plant is the first in Greece to operate without state subsidies, having secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Swiss energy trader Axpo.
Additionally, the project has received backing from the Next Generation EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, further supporting its successful implementation and sustainability goals.
