State-owned Bosnian power utility ERS has issued a public call for a technical solution study to connect the Mrsovo Hydroelectric Plant to the transmission network. Valued at approximately €37,000, this study is a crucial step in the project, which aims to have HPP Mrsovo operational by 2026. The hydropower plant, located on the Lim River, will feature three generator units with a total installed capacity of 36.7 MW.
The study must address the electricity distribution within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) electricity system, emphasizing safety criteria and cost-effectiveness in the connection’s construction. It will also evaluate the plant’s steady-state impact on the BiH electricity system, along with its dynamic effects.
Key aspects of the study include analyzing options for connecting to the transmission network, such as constructing a 2×110 kV Visegrad-Mrsovo transmission line or an input/output on the 110 kV Dub-Visegrad transmission line. Alternative connection methods can also be proposed by the study’s authors or investors.
Bids for the study are due by August 27.
Construction of HPP Mrsovo began in July 2023. In November 2022, Comsar Energy Hydro contracted Turkish company NGA INSAAR for the plant’s construction, with a total value of €98 million. Later in 2022, Comsar Energy Hydro was acquired by the state-owned ERS.
