UniCredit Bank Romania has successfully coordinated a €388 million syndicated loan for Transgaz, Romania’s natural gas transmission system operator. The loan will support the development of Romania’s national gas transmission network, including the construction of critical gas pipelines and enhancements to the country’s gas supply capacity.

Transgaz CEO Ion Sterian emphasized the company’s commitment to securing a competitive financing mix to support its investment program, aiming for optimal results. The syndicated loan is intended to finance and refinance expenses related to strategic investment projects outlined in the national gas transmission system development plan, which has been approved by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

UniCredit Bank served as the mandated principal arranger, coordinator, bookrunner, lender, documentation and payment agent, and facility agent for the syndicated loan. The syndicate also includes Banca Comercială Română, Banca Transilvania, Raiffeisen Bank, and CEC Bank, all of which acted as principal arrangers.

The loan will fund several significant projects, including the Tuzla-Podișor gas pipeline, phase II of the BRHA project, and various other key pipelines. These developments are expected to greatly enhance Romania’s gas transport infrastructure and support the sustainable growth of the country’s energy sector.
