Slovenian nuclear power plant Krsko expects its annual electricity generation to reach 5.33 TWh in 2023, which is 11% lower than planned.
“Due to the deviations at the connection system found in October and the extraordinary overhaul, we plan to produce 5.33 billion kWh of electricity annually, which is about 11% less than we originally planned,” the plant’s operator NEK said in a statement.
The direct costs of the extraordinary overhaul amounted to 13.8 million euros, NEK president Gorazd Pfeifer said.
NEK reconnected the nuclear power plant to the grid on November 17 after a leak led to its shutdown on October 5. The operator shut down Krsko in October after leakage was detected in the primary system within the containment structure. The malfunction falls below the specified limit in technical regulations and poses no threat to the safety of employees, the public, or the environment, NEK said back then.
