OMV will develop a network of 28 ultra-fast electric car charging stations on Hungary’s high-traffic routes by the end of 2023. The investment is part of a large project co-financed by OMV and the European Union to contribute to the development of a regional network for ultra-fast charging of electric cars by installing more than 400 charging points.
In Hungary, ultra-fast charging points, each with a capacity of at least 150 kW, will be installed in seven locations at the cost of 2.1 million euros.
The units will have a maximum charging capacity of up to 300 kW and will be able to charge a vehicle up to a range of 200 kilometres in about 10-15 minutes, depending on the capacity of the car. The European Union is providing 1.05 million euros in funding for the seven sites in Hungary, and the installation of the stations will be completed by the end of 2025.
OMV Petrom Marketing is the coordinator of the project and aims to install 328 ultra-fast charging points in Romania, 11 in Slovakia, and seven in Hungary by the end of 2025.
The investment is estimated at 39 million euros. The European Union will provide 15 million euros through the Connecting Europe Facility, 5 million euros will be provided from bank loans and the remainder from private resources.
