Hidroelectrica shares will be included in the FTSE Global All-World Index, FTSE Global Large Cap Index and FTSE Emerging Index as of July 19, according to a notice published by FTSE Russell on Wednesday.

The shares of the renewable energy producer will also be part of MSCIā€™s MSCI Frontier and MSCI Romania indices starting July 26, the index provider said in a separate announcement on Wednesday.

ā€œWe are pleased that this interest is expressed both by the very high trading volumes on the first day, but also by the inclusion of Hidroelectrica shares in the FTSE Russell Emerging Markets and MSCI Frontier Markets indices through this rapid inclusion mechanism,” BVB president Radu Hanga said.

Hidroelectrica will play a key role in Romaniaā€™s progress to Emerging Market status by MSCI, Hanga added.

Hidroelectrica is the seventh Romanian company to be included in the FTSE Global All-World Index, FTSE Global Large Cap Index and FTSE Emerging Index, and the fourteenth to be part of FTSE Russellā€™s indices dedicated to emerging markets. The company will also mark Romaniaā€™s twelfth entry in the MSCI Frontier IMI indices (Investable Market Indexes).

Hidroelectrica shares ended Wednesdayā€™s trading session 5.77% higher than the IPO price, at 110 lei, giving the company a market capitalisation of 49.5 billion lei.

On Thursday, Hidroelectrica set a new record on the BVB in terms of the daily value of the liquidity on the equity segment, reaching over 821 million lei and surpassing the previous record of 326.7 million lei achieved in 2018.
