Electricity consumption in Romania in the first four months of 2023 amounted to 16.6 TWh. That is 8% less compared to 2022, according to the data published by the National Institute for Statistics.
Industrial electricity consumption reached 12.5 TWh, 5% less compared to last year. Household electricity consumption amounted to 4 TWh, which is a 14% decrease. Public lighting consumption dropped by 16%, amounting to 176 GWh.
Total electricity production reached 20.85 TWh in the first four months of 2023, 7% more compared to the same period in 2022.
Electricity exports in the January – May period amounted to 4.4 TWh, 117% more compared to the same period in 2022. Electricity imports decreased by 189% and amounted to 2.2 TWh.
