The European Commission has decided to open an infringement procedure against Romania over its restricting of electricity exports and sent a letter of formal notice to the member state.
Romania restricts the export of electricity through a measure that is incompatible with the Directive (EU) 2019/944 and Regulation (EU) 2019/943 on the internal market for electricity, EC announced. The measure also violates the Electricity Directive and the Electricity Regulation.
Romania has two months to reply and address identified shortcomings.
