State-controlled Public Power Corporation (PPC) is looking to expand its renewable energy operations to Romania and the Balkans, where it is planning five large RES acquisitions (both in development an in operation) with the capacity of 500 to 600 MW.
The company is looking into expanding its solar and wind portfolio through acquisitions in Romania, of mature portfolios of respectable companies such as Enel or Siemens Gamesa, as well as several projects in Bulgaria. If successful, these acquisitions would represent one of the PPC’s biggest investments in recent years.
PPC has also made clear its intentions for the acquisition of a major vertically integrated group in the Balkan region, without revealing any further information.
Such moves would help its subsidiary PPC Renewables achieve its RES portfolio target for 2023, set at 1.5 GW of installed capacity.
