According to Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, production of electricity in December 2021 increased by 13.5 %, compared to November, to 5,013 GWh, while consumption of electricity rose by 16.8 % on monthly basis and amounted to 3,384 GWh. Consumption of natural gas in December 2021 increased by 30 % and amounted to 368 million cubic meters, while its production remained the same and amounted to 2 million cubic meters.
Compared to December 2020, production of electricity increased by 28.9 %, while its consumption rose slightly by 0.2 %. Consumption of natural gas decreased by 2.4 % compared to December 2020, while its production dropped by 50 %.
In December, production of unleaded petrol amounted to 51,000 tons after planned maintenances of production facilities in the previous month, while its consumption decreased by 44.7 % and amounted to 26,000 tons. Production of diesel in December increased to 172,000 tons compared to 29,000 tons in the previous month, while its consumption increased by 30.6 % and amounted to 209,000 tons.
Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) decreased by 5 % and amounted to 38,000 tons, while its production dropped to just 1,000 tons. In the same period, production of solid fuels remained approximately the same at 3,239 thousand tons, while consumption of this energy resource rose by 0.6 % to 3,334 thousand tons.
