In March 2021, total electricity consumption in North Macedonia amounted to 789,488 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 45.72 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 406,568 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 87,746 tons. According to the data from State Statistical Office, 73.2 % of the consumed electricity in March was covered by domestic production, while 95.5 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production. Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in March 2021 stood at 547,521 MWh, which is by 35.3 % higher compared to the same month last year. 186,068 MWh or 34 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 22.2 % compared to March 2020), 184,423 MWh or 33.7 % was produced at hydropower plants (+ 25.9 %), 159,043 MWh or 29 % in CHP plants and 10,932 MWh or 2 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm. Production at biogas power plants reached 4,881 MWh, while solar power plants produced 2,175 MWh of electricity in March.
