In January 2021, on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX a total volume of 652,683.5 MWh of electricity was traded which is 6.6 % more than in December 2020, of which 607,319.4 MWh on the day-ahead market and 45,364.1 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in January 2021 was 5.2 % higher compared to the same month last year. Average daily base price on day-ahead market in January amounted to 53.89 euros/MWh, which is 2.3 % lower than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 63.75 euros/MWh, 5.5 % lower compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 53.44 euros/MWh, 6.5 % lower compared to December. There are 22 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market (the same as in the previous month), fifteen of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in January amounted to 19,590.9 MWh. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June last year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
